Lookup Carroll County Inmate Records

Carroll County inmate records are searched first through the county jail roster, then through state or federal systems when the person is no longer in local custody. A Carroll County jail roster search can help look up Carroll County inmates by name, county, booking date, or release date. The roster is a custody and booking tool, not a final court judgment or statewide criminal history.

Carroll County Jail Roster

The official online route for Carroll County inmate records is the Indiana County Jail Public Portal. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office links to this portal from its Jail Division page, rather than hosting a separate local roster. The portal covers current and recently released jail records for participating Indiana counties. Carroll is one of those participating counties, so the County dropdown is a real search control, not a cosmetic filter.

The roster should be used for local jail custody. It can show booking and arrest facts, but it should not be treated as proof of conviction. A court case in Indiana MyCase controls formal charges and dispositions after the prosecutor files. A sentenced state prisoner moves to the Indiana Department of Correction locator. Federal sentenced custody uses the BOP locator, and immigration detention uses ICE ODLS.

The sheriff's Links and Resources page shows the local access chain in one place: INjail for inmate search, the records request form for records, eXpressAccount for commissary, and Combined Public Communications for inmate phone, tablet, and visitation services.

Carroll County Roster Search Fields

The INjail portal supports both name and date-range searching. The safest first search is Last Name plus Carroll in the County dropdown. Add First Name or Birth Date when the name is common. Date ranges are useful when the family knows when an arrest happened but is not sure about spelling, or when a person was released recently.

The sheriff's links page shows the official roster and records-request links used when an online result is incomplete.

That page is a useful fallback because it separates jail lookup, records requests, money deposits, and phone or visitation services.

Search Carroll County Inmates

A clean search keeps the county jail roster from returning matches in other participating Indiana counties. Start broad enough to catch spelling differences, then narrow only when needed. The portal validation text says at least one search value must be entered.

  1. Open the Indiana County Jail Public Portal.
  2. Use the Search tab if the page does not open there by default.
  3. Enter Last Name. Add First Name if the last name is common.
  4. Select Carroll in the County dropdown.
  5. Add Birth Date, Booked Between, or Released Between when those facts are known.
  6. Click Search and review county, name, age, race, sex, booked-on date, released-on date, and the View action.
  7. Open View to check the profile fields, holds, and case sections.

If the person was arrested very recently, wait for booking or call the jail. If the person was sentenced and transferred, use IDOC. If the case is federal or immigration related, the county roster may be the wrong system even when the arrest started locally.

Carroll County Inmate Record Fields

The public portal template can display many profile fields, although terminal inspection did not confirm every field in a live Carroll County profile. Treat the record as a public custody snapshot, not a complete criminal file. Missing bond, photo, housing, or court-date details should be checked with the jail or court channel that owns the record.

Carroll County Jail Contact

The current jail address changed with the 2025 facility move. Current sheriff pages point to 6499 W 100 N in Delphi. Older references to 310 W. Main Street describe the former jail address and should not be used for mail, bonds, or visits unless a current official source specifically directs it.

For records and report requests, the sheriff administration page says administration handles report requests and day-to-day operations. Use the stricter published administrative window, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., when planning an in-person records contact.

Carroll County Booking Basics

Carroll County does not publish a detailed booking timeline or roster-refresh schedule. Confirmed local facts are narrower: the Sheriff's Office operates the jail, the jail uses INjail for public inmate search, and the portal can show booking number, booked-on date, arrest date, arresting agency, holds, and cases. Standard booking also involves identity checks, property handling, medical screening, and classification, but local housing rules were not published.

Indiana law requires prompt court processing after warrantless arrest. The jail record may appear before the court case is fully visible in MyCase. The Carroll County Clerk page says tickets may take 3 to 5 business days to appear, and other criminal filings can also lag behind booking. For filed charges, use MyCase and the Clerk rather than relying on the booking screen alone.

Carroll County Bond Records

Bond information is local and practical in Carroll County. The sheriff bond page states that internet bonds are no longer accepted. To bond someone out, the person paying must come to the Sheriff's Office with the correct amount of money. Cash and credit card are accepted. Cashier checks and money orders are not accepted for bond.

Bond funds should not be sent to commissary or phone accounts because those are separate inmate service systems.

Carroll County Jail Visitation

The Jail Division page says all inmate visitation, phone calls, and tablet services are completed through Combined Public Communications. The sheriff page does not publish a local day-by-day visitation schedule, visitor approval rule, dress code, child-visitor rule, attorney-visit process, or visit length. Readers should check the CPC or InmateSales account and call the jail before traveling.

Mail and Commissary Records

Mail rules are explicit. The jail accepts letter mail only, with no packages. Address mail to the inmate at 6499 W. 100 N., Delphi, IN 46923. Five pictures are allowed per card or letter. Pictures involving pornography, drug paraphernalia, gang affiliations, guns, crayon, colored pencil, or marker are restricted. Cards with stickers, string, or adhesive can go to inmate property if those items cannot be removed.

State Federal and ICE Lookups

Different custody systems answer different questions. A person arrested in Carroll County may start in the county jail roster, appear later in MyCase, and then disappear from the local roster after transfer to state prison. The IDOC locator searches by name or DOC number and covers sentenced Indiana prison custody. It is not a short-term county jail roster.

The official Carroll Co IN Sheriff & EM mobile app exists for communication, notifications, tips, contacts, weather, closures, and damage reporting, but the app store listings reviewed did not clearly confirm an app-only inmate roster or warrant lookup. Do not rely on the app as a jail roster unless hands-on app inspection confirms that feature.
